A big welcome for the mayor-elect

Applause filled the home of interior designer Kelly Gale Amen when Houston’s next mayor and first lady made a late-evening appearance at a Friday soiree.
It didn’t take Annise Parker and life partner Kathy Hubbard long to head to Amen’s balcony to check out his enviable view.
Another late arrival: My camera. One look at the fun crowd and Amen’s art-filled home, which he aptly described as “four floors of fantasy,” had me heading out to the car to fetch it.
Be warned: The next party my camera crashes may be yours.
