Queen for a Day! Texas Surrealist Queen, that is. The high bidder will find her chariot awaiting. Since she will be in the Art Car Parade her chariot will be a 1972 Chevy “Bluebonnet” Pickup Truck. Artists Barbara Jones and Kelly Amen have designed this special Art Car to convey our Surrealist Queen and her entourage in the Art Car parade on April 18. Ceron and his friends at Urban Retreat will help out Queen prepare for her special day and will pamper her after the arduous journey down Main Street with a relaxing massage and pedicure. Our Queen will then relinquish her steed (the pickup is just a loaner, sorry).
All proceeds benefit Da Camera of Houston’s Surrealism concert series, including 10% of all purchases made at MD Modern on the day of the event. (Please refer to concert details)
Join Us for the latest of Da Camera of Houston’s nationally acclaimed multi-media concert productions conceived and directed by Artistic Director Sarah Rothenberg.

All the arts converge as the wild imagination of the Surrealists is set loose in this unique concert experience.Da Camera’s program begins in the intimate setting of The Menil Collection with selected songs to texts by Surrealist poets, including the works of Anthiel, Satie and Poulenc. The concert will be complemented by a discussion and tour of the world’s leading Surrealist collection at The Menil by Houston Art Historian, David Brauer.
The program then expands to incorporate more dramatic elements when it moves to The Wortham Center. Building on the original program, this concert will feature Rene Clair’s silent film Entr’acte with original score for piano four-hands composed by Erik Satie and readings from Picasso’s hilarious play, “Desire Caught by the Tail.”Surrealism: Music, Art, Film & Literature will also be presented at Walter Reade Theater, Lincoln Center, New York, New York on Monday, March 9, 1998
