Don’t let the function of a space limit it’s design. Whether your redoing a kitchen, remodeling an office, or updating your bathroom don’t let your creativity be limited by how you intend to use the space. With this bathroom project, Kelly Gale Amen wanted to explore the possibility of both form and function. While his goal was to create a space of seclusion and relaxation, it was important to remember the rooms initial function. Inspired by the idea of what a bathroom could be, Amen created this fabric enclosure of silk moire that rolls and un-rolls to give the perfect sound insulation for this private retreat. With function in mind, the drapery was crafted with a hidden shower liner keeping the area clean and usable. Using fabric in atypical design features is one way to create a distinct and functional look, Amen used fabric to create a space that exceeded the clients expectations of the room.
